About Positive Behavior Interventions and Support: PBIS
- Poudre School District has joined 50 other districts across Colorado in implementing POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORT (PBIS).
- PBIS incorporates a broad range of strategies for increasing academic achievement, increasing pro-social behaviors, and increasing safety.
- PBIS is not a specific curriculum, a “package” approach, or commercial product. PBIS offers a framework and a process for schools to use for building on their strengths and their current successful practices and programs.
- PBIS emphasizes effective and efficient systems, evidence-based practices, data-based decision making, and family/community involvement.
- PBS is currently utilized in approximately 5,000 schools in 48 states across the country, and impressive positive results have been documented.
